What you need
- OFW 5.03 which is required to run ChickHen R2. Available Here
- ChickHen R2 loader. Availabe Here
- CFW 5.00 M33-6. Available Here
- X-GEN Loader for Installing CFW 5.50 Gen-D. Available Here
BEFORE YOU PROCEED
Check and triple check you have a hackable PSP that will accept custom firmware flashing without resulting in a BRICKED PSP. Make sure you have a PSP with a TA88v2 or below only + or TAv90v1. If your PSP has a TA88v3 or above or is a PSP-3000 DO NOT proceed!!! You will brick your PSP.
Installing CFW
Step 1
If your PSP is not on OFW 5.03, download it from the link provided above. Open it with WinRAR and you should see a file named EBOOT.PBP. On your memory stick, navigate to PSP/GAME folder and create a folder named 'UPDATE'. Copy this EBOOT file to the newly created UPDATE folder. Once you have copied that, exit USB mode and navigate to your GAME menu. Scroll down and select memory stick and you will see an icon to update to 5.03. Press X and follow the instructions. Once completed the PSP will reboot and you will have OFW 5.03 installed which is required to run ChickHEN R2.
Step 2a
Get hold of the ChickHEN Installer from the link above. This is an executable file so it will automatically install the appropriate files to the right places. ALl you need to do is connect the PSP in USB mode, then run the program. It will then ask you to select a destination. Browse for your memory stick in My Computer, select and then click NEXT to install. If you have a PSP Slim, then you can skip the next step.
Step 2b
This step is mainly for those using PSP Phat. I have not tested if the above step is sufficient so I will guide you through the method I did. Download this file. Once downloaded, open with WinRAR and you should see a folder ChickHenR2. Extract it. Once extracted open it and you will see two folders, namely SLIM and PHAT, an h.bin file and a readme file. Ignore everything except the PHAT folder. Open it up and you will see a .tiff image file. Extract this file and copy to your PSP/PHOTO/ChickHEN folder located on your memory stick, deleting all other images created by the above install.
Step 2c
Now it is time to run ChickHEN. Before proceeding, make sure the following is done as I have noticed ChickHEN will not load if not done. GO to your PSP System Settings. Set 'UMD Auto Start' to disabled, 'USB Auto Connect' to disabled, and finally scroll down to Flash Player or something to that degree and click to enable it. In order to enable flash, the PSP will require access to the internet. Once this is done, navigate to PHOTO, then select MemoryCard, then ChickHEN then press X on the file. If the PSP flashes different colors and reboots, you have successfully loaded ChickHEN R2. If it hangs and shuts down, restart the PSP and try again. If still unsuccessful, find me on IRC.

Step 3
Now that ChickHEN R2 has loaded, you can validate this by going to System Settings and then System Information, navigate to your game folder, and then memory stick. You will see an icon with the name 'PSPident 0.4'. Select by pressing X. This will give you all the information regarding your motherboard model to make sure it can be flashed with custom firmware. Once all is OK, return back to the Game Folder/Memory Stick and Select 'Hellcat's recovery flasher'. It will then start loading, after which you will get a disclaimer page, Select I agree ( 3rd option ). In the next screen Select 'Install M33 CFW and it will start installing. This process take's a while so just have some patience.
Once your CFW has been installed, you can check it's success By going to SYSTEM SETTINGS then SYSTEM INFORMATION. This process will have installed CFW 5.00 M33-3, which you now need to upgrade to CFW 5.00 M33-6.

Step 4
To upgrade to 5.00 M33-6, download the file located above and open with WinRAR. You will see 2 folders and 2 files. Don't worry about the two files or the folder "TRANSLATE". Simply connect your PSP in USB mode and copy the "UPDATE" folder to PSP/GAME. Once copied, exit USB mode and Navigate to GAME and then memory stick. You will see an icon resembling an upgrade to M33-6. Click X and follow the instructions. If any problems with this step let me know. Once installation is complete the PSP will reboot and have CFW 5.00 M33-6 installed which you can verify by going to SYSTEM SETTINGS then SYSTEM INFORMATION.
Step 5
Once you have CFW 5.00 M33-6 installed, download the last file in the list above "X-GEN 4...." and open with WinRAR. Once opened, extract to the root directory of your PSP Memory Stick using USB Mode. Once copied, navigate to GAME then Memory Stick and you will find an icon resembling an upgrade to "GEN-D". Press X and follow the prompts. Once again if any problems let me know, but you can how ever watch the related youtube video covering everything right here
Conclusion
After the above is successful, you will then have CFW 5.50 Gen-D (Full) installed on your PSP which can be verified by going to SYSTEM SETTINGS then SYSTEM INFORMATION. If you do not see it then you have missed something.. sorry :(
