If you ended up here you must be interested in joining CTWUG. The following Pages are a guide on how to go about getting connected to CTWUG! Make sure you read this whole page before you start or ask for help.

So you've heard about CTWUG from a friend or colleague - but what exactly is it?

CTWUG is a stand alone non-profit group consisting purely of members of the public that contribute time and effort into building a city-wide free wireless network using specialised wireless equipment. The CTWUG network that is independent of any commercial telecommunication company and has no monthly or membership fees.

The most important thing anyone will ever tell you about CTWUG is this...
CTWUG isn't a company. There are no employees that you pay for the service. CTWUG is s a community of people that build the network - by joining, you'll be learning about networking and you'll be expected to be able to do your own installation and maintain your own connection. CTWUG is as much a learning experience as it is a functional network.

The group is run by a committee who are elected yearly at our AGM in August. They are aided by a dedicated group of network and services admins. The network is open and free to be used for absolutely anything except business use or to make money. Our full Constitution and CTWUG_Rules contain more information. For more information about the governance of CTWUG, please see the CTWUG Organisational Diagram
