What is CCQ

CCQ : Client Connection Quality

rx-ccq (read-only: integer: 0..100) - Client Connection Quality - a value in percent that shows how
effective the receive bandwidth is used regarding the theoretically maximum available bandwidth.
Mostly it depends from an amount of retransmited wireless frames.

tx-ccq (read-only: integer: 0..100) - Client Connection Quality - a value in percent that shows how
effective the transmit bandwidth is used regarding the theoretically maximum available bandwidth.
Mostly it depends from an amount of retransmited wireless frames.

Where can I see my CCQ

TX/RX CCQ can be found in Winbox here:

1. Open winbox and connect to your RB
2. Click on Wireless (left hand side)
3. Open Registration Tab
4. Double click on your connection
5. Open Signal Tab
6. Read TX/RX CCQ Percentage

An ideal CCQ should be 100%/100%

How does CCQ effect me

If your CCQ is bad, it means your RB has to work harder to get data across the wireless link.

eg. If your CCQ is 50% and you send a file across the link, your RB sends the entire file. The HS only receives 50% of the packets you sent. You must then resend the remaining 50% of the packets, of which 50% again goes missing. This process continues until all the data has been received at the HS. If your TX/RX Rate is 18mbps/18mbps you roughly get a 9mbps/9mbps connection.

How does my CCQ effect other people

If your CCQ is bad, you take up more time than needed on the HS, resulting the HS cannot serve other clients. If you improve your CCQ, every one on the interface will experience a better connection.

How can I improve my CCQ

1. Re-align your grid/panel

In most cases, the easiest way to improve your CCQ is to just get on the roof and re-align your RB to the HS

2. Rate Limit

If your RB runs stable at a TX/RX Rate of 24mbps/24mbps with a 70% CCQ, you can limit your RB to 18mbps/18mbps, which should increase your CCQ.

Practical Example:

Its better to have a CCQ of 100/100 at 12mbps/12mbps than a 50/50 CCQ at 18mbps/18mbps
