1) What is DC++ ? DC++ is an open-source, peer-to-peer file-sharing client that can be used to connect to the Direct Connect network (also called a DC Hub/Server)

2) What software do I need to use DC++ ?

We have written a custom DC++ client for use on the CTWUG network. Its called WugDC++. You can download it from http://dchub.ctwug.za.net

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before requesting a DC username, please ensure that you read the DC rules and comply with them, specifically that your WIND Node is complete and up-to-date. These rules can be found at http://dchub.ctwug.za.net/rules.html

Getting started:

Ok, so your rb is set up, you have installed WugDC and your ready to start leeching.

Step 1: - Connection Settings DC++ is quite particular about the connection settings. With Wugdc we have done most of the configs for you. The only thing left to do is configure Wugdc with your pc's IP. In Wugdc go to File > Settings > Connection Settings

On that screen you will find a box to fill in your External / Wan IP. That would be the ip of your pc. So you stick your ip in there and click OK

Step 2: - Configure your Wugdc to connect to the central CTWUG DC Hub

Now you need to connect to the DC hub. The hub is located at dchub.ctwug.za.net

To configure this, click on View > Favourite Hubs If there are no hubs configured, click on New. You will get a screen like this:

You fill in the Name Box - CTWUG

You fill in the Address Box - dchub.ctwug.za.net

You fill in the Description - CTWUG DC Hub (or whatever you want to call it)

Then you Fill in your nick and password (You need to request a username and password from one of the DC Operators)

Then you Click on OK

If you want the WUGDC to automatically connect to the HUB everytime you start Wugdc, you can tick the box next to the newly configured favourite hub and click on OK.

Step 3: - Sharing

Because of the CTWUG DC HUB RULES you would need to share a minimum amount of data before you can start downloading. (You will be prompted with the hub rules every time you connect to the CTWUG DC Hub.

To set you share do the following:

Click on File > Settings > Sharing

In that window you tick the folders that you want to share with other DC Users.
