How to create a IRC Vhost:

Only registered nicks will be able to request a vhost and it requires that IRC services is up.

Vhosts are reserved for users already on the wug that would like access to services requiring valid DNS details.

  • Make sure that you have registered your nick.
  • Make sure your WIND details are up to date. (These will be checked randomly)
  • In your irc client type /msg hostserv request $vhost.external.ctwug.za.net (eg. idontwanttofixmydns.external.ctwug.za.net)
  • Contact your local friendly IRC oper to approve the request.

How to register your Nickname on IRC

  • Type in /msg nickserv register your_new_password youremail@example.net
  • follow validation commands given

Things to note:

  • If you are on the wug and you have/will not update your DNS, then don't bother requesting a vhost.
  • Exception banning on the #channel is preferred to vhosts
