How to create a IRC Vhost:

Only registered nicks will be able to request a vhost and it requires that IRC services is up.

  • Make sure that you have registered your nick
  • In your irc client type /hostserv request $vhost (eg. idontwanttofixmydns.ctwug.za.net)
  • Example: /hostserv request idontwanttofixmydns.ctwug.za.net
  • Contact your local friendly IRC oper to approve the request.


How to register your Nickname on IRC

  • Type in /msg nickserv register password email
  • follow validation commands given

Things to note:

  • If you are on the wug and you have/will not update your DNS, then don't bother requesting a vhost.
  • Exception banning on the #channel is preferred to vhosts
