Area & Introduction

The Northern border of SouthPen lies at Mercury. The district then stretches all the way down to the coast at Muizenberg. Our Western boundary follows the Constantiaberg mountain range while the Eastern border follows the M5 freeway.

The district is a relative newcomer to the network when the first nodes, AndyCap & Prometheus, were setup by AndyCap & SupaNova in mid 2010. From here the network expanded to Morpheus and King02 relatively quickly with Darkfall following suite shortly thereafter. The next big leap for SouthPen was the simultaneous rollout of multiple backbone links. This brought Pelo, Archon, Fudge & The_Claw online and a backbone from King02 to Wamoos bridged SouthPen to the Mitchells Plain district.

More recently we welcomed Bambooozle, StoffWP & ACL to our backbone, we established a critical high site for the area in the form of Sirius and the King02 Wamoos backbone was upgraded to dual polarity.

With every single OSPF enabled backbone link running dual polarity our district enjoys some very good speeds and has capacity for good growth in the future. Future plans include the rollout of Dual Polarity Sectors, establishing a backbone to the coast as well as peering with the DeepSouth district.
